Welcome to Rosina's world!
We are pleased to announce the launch of this delightful line of art prints by Rosina Lippi - puppers and florals plucked from her memories and wonderfully crafted into whimsical vignettes. Choose from stretched canvases, postcards, and note cards to keep and to share.
About the Artist
Rosina Lippi has had a number of careers. She was a tenured university professor for more than 12 years; she lived and taught fourth grade in the western Austrian alps, she is a published novelist under her own name, and the pen name she is better known for: Sara Donati.
In 2000 Rosina left academia and began to write fiction full time. She has had good critical reviews, which are rewarding, but more important is the large community of readers who are avid readers of her historical fiction.
She has always been interested in art, and is never without a project of some kind. For a few years she was a founding editor at Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine, which grew out of her mixed media/textile/renegade quilting work. She has spent some time working with polymer clay, but more recently she focuses primarily on drawing and painting. Since about 2020 she has been chin deep in new media and digital art. Her love of strong color and vivid patterns have been dominant through all her work - textile, mixed media, pattern design, and portraits.
About the Art
Puppers: As someone sincerely dedicated to animal welfare and most especially to dog rescue, much of Rosina's art comes from her acquaintance with many foster dogs and her own puppers, who dominate everything much like intelligent three year olds who are endlessly affectionate and crazy-making at the same time. She also has a soft spot for both Sphinx cats and Maine Coons. In her artwork she tries to capture something of a pup's personality and the relationship to his or her family.
Florals: Rosina grew up in a working class neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, where gardening wasn't a high priority for most people. But her grandmother's two sisters lived in rural Deep Lake, Illinois, and they both loved fussing with growing things. Some of her earliest summer memories are watching the sun shine on raspberry canes from a secret spot hollowed out behind them, and the range of incredible colors in both vegetable and floral plants. She turns to these memories when historical fiction is a bit overwhelming and she needs a break.
